The movement that is realised brings continuous tension on the muscle from start to finish without dead spots. By adjusting the height of the seat, it is possible to more directly involve the upper, middle and lower Great Pectoral bundles. It has two pairs of handles to allow for substantial training variables and localisation also on the low-medium pectoralis major (lower curved handles). By arranging the R.O.M. stops in advance of the maximum stretch and in advance of the starting position, it is possible to make the training for the Pectorals also for subjects with accentuation of the dorsal kyphosis, in this case the double chin position is imposed throughout the execution to avoid the accentuation of the cervical lordosis. Obviously one should not lean one’s head against the backrest.
In some subjects a retraction of the Piccolo pectoralis is associated with the dorsal hyperclyphosis and lumbar hyperlordosis, together with a considerable shortening of the Grande Dorsale and a hypotone of the Grande dentate. This situation leads to a substantial scapulo-humeral limitation, with an inability to extend the arms upwards without bending the elbows and is also the cause of intra-rotation of the humeri with consequent strong anterior adduction of the shoulders, even in the resting position. It is possible to solve these problems, especially in young subjects, through the providential and adequate use of the R.O.M. In fact, by using the upper handles with the hands in supination and by arranging the R.O.M. stops in such a way as to reduce the amplitude of the movement in the terminal phase of the extension, and limiting the amplitude of the return phase, it is possible to gradually restore the correct length to the retracted muscles of the thorax and to obtain the derotation of the humerus.
In cases of greater shortening, the thrust movement must be performed by inhaling and exhaling in the return phase (gentle and gradual stretch effect to avoid the intervention of the neuromuscular spindles); and at the same time control the set-up of the curves of the spinal column; hold the shoulder blades in adduction during the action of the exercise, keeping the shoulders low and the chin in retraction. Needless to say, the exercise in these cases must be adapted to each individual. A preload pedal makes it easy to start and finish the exercise. Modern and elegant in its appearance and design, it does not betray expectations and stands out for its innovations on international markets.
Control movement to prevent injury and aid recovery. Even at the gym.
