More weight loss and tone with the metabolic gym

We are getting fatter and out of shape. Although losing weight is the most desired goal, the training methods offered in gyms today fail to eliminate the extra kilos. Exercise activates a cascade of metabolic and hormonal events. To restore all these parameters to their basal levels at the end of exercise, the body requires significant amounts of oxygen.

This extra oxygen consumption is called EPOC (short for Excess Postexercise Oxygen Consumption) and among its most important effects are

– increased metabolism

– more effective use of the fatty acids that are released from fat tissue into the blood stream to be used for energy. Thanks to EPOC, the body will utilise more fat storage for several hours after training.

EPOC levels are directly influenced by the intensity and duration of exercise and the effects can last from a few minutes up to 48-72 hours. Furthermore, the calories consumed during this period come mainly from lipids and thus from the fat reserves we want to get rid of.
