Stand Up for your health: train standing up to live better and longer

🕛 5 min

Movement is inherent in human evolution.

We are made to move, and the history of our species leaves no room for interpretation. Human beings evolved in a specific context: constant physical exertion and scarcity of food. Today, modern humans live in the opposite condition: little physical movement and excessive food intake.

Physical activity has a strong impact on preventing many diseases and promoting health. However, epidemiological data show that the percentage of inactive people is increasingly high, meaning there is a poor perception of the benefits of movement.

Many of the diseases of the modern world are directly or indirectly favored by a sedentary lifestyle. Hypertension, heart attack, stroke, cancer, obesity, diabetes, and degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are just a few examples. Sedentary behavior results in a real motor regression, meaning a progressive loss of functional capacities not only of muscles but also of organs. In short, the entire human machine suffers from the lack of physical activity.

Increasing levels of physical activity helps fight the damage of sedentary lifestyles.

Certainly, physical activity is not a cure-all for every ailment or an immediate remedy for existing conditions. However, adequate and regular physical activity is an important tool for preventing various diseases and improving psychophysical well-being and quality of life, for both sexes and in every phase of life.
Active populations live longer than sedentary ones. Moreover, there is evidence that increasing levels of physical activity, even after long periods of inactivity, brings health benefits, regardless of age. Yet, as mentioned earlier, the world continues to be increasingly inactive. In recent years, especially among children and young people, physical activity has been replaced by more sedentary habits, while opportunities for adults and the elderly to be active decrease progressively.
Statistics reveal a world that is becoming lazier. Why do people continue to avoid physical activity? The main reasons relate to a lack of time and motivation, costs, unappealing fitness options, fear of injury, or not having anyone to engage in physical activity with.
To bring more people closer to a more active lifestyle, the World Health Organization, the European Union, and national governments have implemented specific promotion policies. To achieve this ambitious goal, namely to increase levels of physical activity in the population, a broad, cultural, and social approach is necessary, which translates into the need for a collective effort among various sectors and disciplines.
Among many, the fitness industry plays a fundamental role and can be a winning tool to slow down the sedentary epidemic. Provided that fitness centers increasingly direct their service offerings to that part of the population that does not engage in any type of physical activity and not just focus on movement enthusiasts, as unfortunately happens today.
Numbers raise the alarm. In Italy, for example, 60% of the population is totally sedentary.

Stand Up: Train Strength Standing Up for a Better and Longer Life

To reach this enormous target population and facilitate physical activity, Teca has developed Stand Up, a unique training system for exclusively working out while standing on innovative strength machines. Exercising in an upright position trains overall strength and is the most natural, functional, and effective way to get in shape and improve physical and mental health.
Why is Stand Up the complete answer to extending life and improving the physical and mental well-being of the population? The reasons are numerous.

Stand Up training: working out has never been so easy and fast
Quick workouts to satisfy even those with little time. Stand Up trains the whole body with complete sessions of 30/40 minutes and allows to reach WHO guidelines on physical activity in just two weekly sessions.
Constant motivation. Workouts on Stand Up are exclusive, dynamic and varied, not reproducible on other systems on the market, thus allowing to maintain high motivation and interest in the gym.
Inclusive training. The upright station and easy-to-use machines allow for easier and more inclusive workouts to do physical activity together with other people with different fitness levels, but without ever having to compete against others.
Maximum safety during training. The standing work position is the most natural and allows to maintain the normal physiological curves of the spine, avoiding dangerous compensatory overloads. The machines are easy to use, have few adjustments and a walk-in access system to minimize the risk of injury. The variety of exercises on each machine and the different grips allow to find the position that best suits the physical structure of the person training.
Strong aggregating power. Innovative workouts on Stand Up promote socialization and integration.
As you can see, Stand Up breaks down all objections to not doing physical activity. But its benefits are far greater. The technological innovation of Stand Up increases longevity, improves health and quality of life.

Stand Up training: working out has never been so easy and fast

1.Quick workouts to satisfy even those with little time. Stand Up trains the whole body with complete sessions of 30/40 minutes and allows to reach WHO guidelines on physical activity in just two weekly sessions.
2.Constant motivation. Workouts on Stand Up are exclusive, dynamic and varied, not reproducible on other systems on the market, thus allowing to maintain high motivation and interest in the gym.
3.Inclusive training. The upright station and easy-to-use machines allow for easier and more inclusive workouts to do physical activity together with other people with different fitness levels, but without ever having to compete against others.

4.Maximum safety during training.

As you can see, Stand Up breaks down all objections to not doing physical activity. But its benefits are far greater. The technological innovation of Stand Up increases longevity, improves health and quality of life.

The benefits of training in an upright position on Stand Up

1.Exercise on Stand Up allows for full-body muscle strengthening, increasing functional strength and therefore the ability to positively handle daily workloads.

2.Stand Up also trains stability, allowing for improvement in overall balance, posture, and proprioception.

3.When standing, the workload is distributed among various muscles in the chain, resulting in less osteo-articular load and less risk of injury.

4.Thanks to muscular synergy (chain exercises) and weight training, training on Stand Up increases muscle tone and energy expenditure during and after exercise.

5.Greater energy expenditure allows for weight control and fighting obesity. Stand Up combines weight training and aerobic exercise in one session for quick improvement in body composition (reduction of fat mass and increase in lean mass). Circuit workouts that incorporate high-intensity aerobic sessions trigger oxidative mechanisms that promote lipolysis during rest (Epoc effect). This, coupled with the increase in lean mass due to isotonic work, facilitates fat loss.

6.Anti-aging effect. Chain and weight training increases overall body strength and helps limit musculoskeletal wear and tear associated with aging. The increase in muscle tone is linked to an increase in basal metabolism, making it easier to reduce visceral fat and maintain proper body weight.

7.Exercising in an upright position is not only more functional but also improves coordination and reduces the risk of falls, fractures, and osteoporosis.

8.Training in an upright position allows for safe full-body strengthening without risking abnormal compensation, corrects posture problems caused by incorrect daily habits, and helps rebuild motor patterns altered by sedentary lifestyles or trauma or surgery.

According to the World Health Organization, health is more than just the absence of disease; it is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Physical activity is a powerful ally in achieving and maintaining this well-being. Today’s statistics on sedentary behavior tell us that current gym and fitness center solutions are not enough to make people more active. But none of this is the case with Stand Up: innovation, technology, natural movement, and ease of use work together to meet the targeted health and well-being needs of the general public.
